Take Action

Our Focus

Welcome to African Americans in Gerontology (AAIG), a dedicated non-profit organization committed to enhancing the quality of life for African American elderly individuals. Our mission is to offer guidance, foster professional development, facilitate networking opportunities, and promote community activism for African American professionals and students in the field of gerontology.

We are excited to share our recent presentations and initiatives aimed at surfacing the age wave and teaching creativity in aging careers within communities of color. These include our participation in prestigious events such as the Association of Gerontology in Higher Education Annual Meeting, the American Society on Aging Annual Conference, and our engagement through the Global Alliances through Gerontological Engagement (GAGE) Project Ethiopia.

With a focus on addressing the unique challenges and opportunities facing African American elderly individuals, we continually strive to create a platform for collaboration, learning, and advocacy. By staying at the forefront of gerontological research and education, we aim to empower our members to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve.
